Bedtime stories are frightening,
Heart into feet will retreat;
Tales in dead of night are reviving,
Peaceful sleep they will deplete.

This realm lends assistance
To enter childhood’s door...
Bedtime stories are enhancing
Life’s value to restore.

Right away, the Storyteller came,
A guide through all the worlds.
He was greatly surprised by the children,
But he did not lose his cause.

With a magic spell he gathered
All the characters back into the book:
– Wanted some fairy tales, kids?
Well, I shall tell them all for you!

From these fairy creatures I mentioned:
Koschei the Deathless (or the Immortal) – some kind of a lych in Eastern Slavic tales; an evil sorcerer king whose death is hidden in really unique phylactery: a needle that is hidden inside an egg, the egg is in a duck, the duck is in a hare, the hare is in a chest, the chest is buried or chained up on a far island.

Baba Yaga – no need to explain, you all know her; a witch that lives in the hut on chicken legs.

Zmey Gorynych – a three-headed dragon antagonist.

The Firebird – a Slavic analogue of a Phoenix. Often, the protagonist must catch it somehow for different reasons (its magical power, the King's order, etc)

A rusalka – an evil spirit of lakes and rivers. A line "A rusalka on golden chains of the oak tree" is from most popular and famous epilogue of a narrative poem "Ruslan and Ludmila" by Alexander Pushkin (my cat creation you can find below)

She must be a graduate of Shadow High—the school for Narrators, that is. I went there, for a time.

Who remember my Storyteller? ^•^ 

On the pages of this old tome
Filled with tales of darkest fright,
Characters come forth to roam,
Adding shades of gloom and night.

Guarding it are creatures weird
From dimensions dark and bright worlds.
Seven seals the book have speared
Safe from villains and their woes.

Curiosity is a frightful quirk:
Once the siblings opened wide
The book of tales upon a whim
All characters broke free outside.

Koschei, Yaga, Zmey in the sky,
Imps and vampires bared their teeth;
There the Firebird took off in flight,
A rusalka on golden chains of the oak tree.
