Feeding Fenzy

Crocodiles are truly remarkable creatures, with a host of specialized adaptations that have allowed them to thrive for millions of years. For example: They have the strongest bite force of any living animal, capable of exerting over 3,700 pounds per square inch. This immense power allows them to take down and crush even the largest prey. Crocodiles are semi-aquatic, able to hold their breath for up to 2 hours underwater. This allows them to ambush prey from the water's surface with lightning speed. Their streamlined bodies and powerful tails make them incredibly agile swimmers, capable of bursts of speed over 20 mph in the water. Crocodiles have a unique skeletal structure with abdominal ribs called gastralia that help them function both on land and in the water! Save the Crocs!
