Malper

An orphan started life as a "serving boy" to a powerful senator who took an interest in him after he was found loitering at the bath house. The senator started calling him Malper. In an almost fratricidal act, the lad assassinated the senior senator by poisoning his food and ended up taking his place, becoming the youngest senator at 18. Malper's Machiavellian machinations, and intense beauty allowed him to become powerful quite quickly, but also attracted the attention of the vampire master of Rome. Malper's downfall came from over-confidence in the end, at the hands of a boy very much like he himself had once been.
