There was the other side, too, less critical but still worth mooting: "you have the body to wear something less square."
Both sides said "don't let society repress you." They seemed to find themselves worth conforming with, yet huge rebels at the same time. So many people couldn't be completely wrong, right?
Regardless of how wrong those others were, they weren't worth looking to for advice. Each outfit worn helped them find themselves more than any "here's what you need to do and be." It helped slowly, but that was a reason to dress more often, when they could.
