Chapter 39: The Trial of Spirits, Part 7

For the rest of the morning each of the teams prepared for an attack on the village. The Seabees and some of the villagers continued their work on clearing the Killing Zone all around Eversham. Larkin, Fairbairn, Bjornson and SG-4 worked with the village militia, training them to counter Jaffa attacks. Tyra and her medical team began to prepare for triage.

Helena went to the Church to pray. She saw Father Anselm setting up the sanctuary for Divine Worship. He looked up and saw the Carmelite kneeling.

“Sister Helena, I’m just about to celebrate Divine Worship. Would you join me?”

“I would, Reverand Father,” Helena replied.

So Father Anselm celebrated Divine Worship with Helena. It seemed to calm her nerves from the nightmare. No one else was in the Church.

The final blessing echoed softly through the stone church.
