Orpheus and Eurydice

Orpheus and Eurydice. Orpheus, a legendary musician whose music could enchant all living things, fell deeply in love with Eurydice. They married, but soon after, Eurydice tragically died after being bitten by a snake.

Devastated by her death, Orpheus descended into the Underworld to bring her back. With his enchanting music, he softened the hearts of Hades and Persephone, the rulers of the Underworld, who agreed to let Eurydice return to the world of the living. However, there was one condition: Orpheus must not look back at Eurydice until they both had reached the surface.

Overcome by doubt and fear that she might not be following him, Orpheus, just before stepping out into the light, turned around to look at Eurydice. In that instant, she was pulled back into the Underworld, lost to him forever.
