After Niflheim initiates a war with the ancient, ocean-centric nation of Altissia, the Sunmoner's Guild is ordered to call forth the nation's great defender from within its Crystal, Leviathan.

Little did Altissia know, the elite Kingsguard unit, sent from Insomnia to help repel Nifelheim, had already fell under the command of the Order of Etro--the power driven, Goddess of Death worshipping cult, lead by Lord Noctis.

Obsessed only with obtaining the power of Guardian Forces, mighty Guardians contained within each Crystal, the Order of Etro initiates the Drain & Contain Protocol. Using the secret, Insomnian developed weapon of mass destruction, the Crystal Jammer. Six massive, rotating saucers, unfolding like beautiful and deadly flowers. They emit an eerie crimson glow over friend and foe alike, jamming Altissia's magic from being used and encaging Leviathan back within the Crystal, yet bound as if frozen.
