Many mermaids have not just one tail fin, at the end of their two attached legs, but two tail fins, one at the end of each of their two separated legs. But actually many mermaids evolutionary developed an additional tail fin to their one or two normal feet tail fins. Some, like this one here, even just rely to this additional tail fin, having only atrophied remnants of their feet left.
