Choosing of the Warrior of Light (Nostalgic original FF reference ;)

OK this is going to be one of my fav pieces due to the Final Fantasy (#1) reference. What were the warriors of light doing before they were chosen? How were they chosen? How did they meet each other?

This piece I'd like to think is that initial bit answered: light that appears in the sky radiating just above you, the voice that calls your name proclaiming your title and destiny, and to raise your sword to the light if you choose to accept this path to save the world.
