Nu'u's Ark

In Hawaiian religion, Nuʻu was a man who built an ark with which he escaped a Great Flood. He landed his vessel on top of Mauna Kea on the Big Island. Nuʻu mistakenly attributed his safety to the moon, and made sacrifices to it. Kāne, the creator god, descended to earth on a rainbow and explained Nuʻu's mistake.

Everyone on earth is descended from Noah. As a result, nearly every people group has a legend of a great flood, and as in this case, the names of the people on the ark even resemble the biblical names. According to Hawai'ian legend, the boat landed on top of a mountain, and there is a rainbow in the legend. Some legends specify eight people were saved. Noah's Flood was truly worldwide, global.
