Día de los Muertos Cake

"Día de los Muertos," or "Day of the Dead," is a Mexican holiday that celebrates and honors deceased loved ones. It typically takes place on November 1st and 2nd, coinciding with the Catholic holidays of All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day. During this time, families create colorful altars called "ofrendas" adorned with photographs, favorite foods, and other mementos of the departed. The belief is that the spirits of the dead return to the world of the living during these days to enjoy the offerings and the company of their families.
