The first month or so, the metal detectors made them nervous. They dealt with tough criminal cases, and they wondered if they could make it, if they worried about machines. What about the actual criminals, or a tough judge or opposing lawyer?
With time they won more cases than they lost. The detectors rarely beeped. And if they did, or they were flagged for a random check, the security guards were apologetic. "Ma'am, we're sorry. We know your time is valuable."
They could have given the workers exasperated sighs if they wanted to. But they did not need to do that, to show power and confidence. They saved their vitriol for the criminals who deserved it.
Besides, the guards were kind enough to congratulate them on winning big cases and even compliment their fashion sense, tastefully.
(The guards noted who was rude, and the ladies seemed to have a particularly good record facing off in court against rude lawyers. Who tended to get flagged for random inspections more often, strangely.)
