That bear in the woods was definetely holding a grudge against Belle. She couldn't see why, though. Why would he attack?

Bruised and blooded she crawled back to the castle, where Beast went even wilder than usual. He threatened to kill her. He was screaming so loud that even the wallks were shaking. Used to such atrocities, Belle didn't breathe a word. She knew she could use it against Beast once he's come to senses.

Done with all the screaming and shouting, he finally told her the Bear was seemingly a dark magical servant.

And she was now meant to be just like him.

Beauty, turned into a beast.
