Born in an isolated society where magic was considered taboo, Zephyrus's parents were good at keeping him hidden (while training his magic in sercet) until he was forced to unleash his magic after being almost killed for his daemon heritage, incinerating his attackers, only to soon be taken away by the local inquisitors, the Purifiers.
Days and nights, Zephyrus endured physical and psychological torture, with eldritch runes carved into his skin, attempting to siphon his magic and soul to serve the Purifier's goals. Fortunately for him, he was shielded by any real damage to his soul thanks to his magical powers, and was able to escape after using his tail to pick the locks to his restraints, and now has been running ever since.
Zephyrus still has nightmares of the unspeakable actions done to him, and has vowed to return such suffering, tenfold, upon the Purifiers one day.
