Bjornson was interrupted by a squeaky clearing of a woman's throat. He looked down. Standing before him was a young woman about his age. She was short in stature about half his size (Bjornson was about two meters tall), with a narrow frame and soft shoulders, the kind shaped more by daily work than by strength. Her light brown braided hair caught gold in the sun, highlighting her braids. Some of the loose strands brushed her cheeks, which she moved away when it got when it got in her eyes. Her eyes were muted grey-green, thoughtful and reserved. They rarely met someone’s gaze for long—not out of fear, but habit—yet when they did, there was a steady attentiveness there. The girl listened more than she spoke and her eyes reflected that: observant, gentle, quietly discerning.

Well done on continuing to write the story. Maybe the woman is a little too small, looking like a girl rather than a woman his age.

The girl’s face was soft rather than striking—rounded cheeks, a straight nose, a mouth that seemed shaped more for kindness rather than laughter. When she smiled, it was hesitant at first, almost supplied, but it warmed her entire expression when it came. It was the kind of smile that felt earned.
Her hands told the truest story. They were small, capable and marked by work. The girl's fingers were slender but sure, with faint calluses and small nicks that she earned from her weaving. When she offered something—food, cloth, a tool— she did so with quiet deliberation, as though the act mattered. The girl dressed simply—nothing ornate, but useful—and it suited her perfectly.
The girl dipped her ladle into her bucket and held it up to Bjornson. “Water?” she asked timidly.
