I cherished that day, replayed it in my mind, wondered if it could have been any better. But it was the only day I had with her. I searched for her, again and again, but she was gone. I grew old, but I never loved another. She was incomparable, irreplaceable. I will love her till I die.

Evangeline found him to be smart, funny and genuine. They had a pleasant conversation, and she made him feel comfortable and appreciated. The tall athletic man came from the bar, his expensive watch glinting on his wrist, and he handed Evangeline a cocktail. “I’m Brad,” he said, expecting Evangeline to be impressed. But Evangeline politely declined his drink and his advances, and turned back to James. She smiled at him and said, “I’m having a wonderful time with you.”
