Semper Augustus Tulip (multi-color)

At the beginning of the 17th century, Tulips were introduced into Holland. What began as a fad (collecting exotic species of Tulip), soon nearly crashed the entire economy. The Semper Augustus variety was the most rare and valuable of all varieties. Unknown at the time, they actually were infected with a type of virus.
