This has been my passion project on NightCafe. Over the years, I have used various ways to see how AI will emulate different artists.

Sometimes the emulations are quite good, sometimes they are not. This gallery posts the results either way.

Currently I am using a plugin in ChatGPT that I wrote and a site I created called AI Art Exploration Lab to generate the prompts for the images.

To see the AI Art Exploration Lab, with over 500 artists and over 100 styles, catalogues, and more, see

Gu Kaizhi (c. 344–406) was a Chinese painter, poet, and theorist of the Eastern Jin Dynasty, often regarded as the father of Chinese classical painting. Known for his delicate brushwork and expressive figures, he pioneered narrative painting and the use of fine, flowing lines to convey emotion and character. Although his original paintings have not survived, later copies preserve his artistic legacy, and his theoretical writings on painting influenced Chinese art for centuries. (OpenAI, 2025)

Emperor Huizong of Song (1082–1135) was the eighth emperor of the Song Dynasty and a highly accomplished painter, calligrapher, and patron of the arts. Renowned for his elegant "Slender Gold" calligraphy style and detailed bird-and-flower paintings, he played a crucial role in advancing Chinese artistic traditions. Under his reign, the imperial court became a major cultural center, fostering developments in painting, poetry, and music. However, his focus on the arts and political mismanagement contributed to the fall of the Northern Song Dynasty, leading to his capture by the Jurchens. Despite his tragic fate, his artistic legacy endures in Chinese cultural history. (OpenAI, 2025)
