227/ Strange Indeed

Mh-hm, strange indeed. Anubis mumbled. Make no mistake. The Highcleres were rich beyond imagination. And quite notorious for their petty bickerings... or so I hear.

While she had never even heard of this family before, their aristocratic intrigues must have been quite scandalous, Ashildr thought, if Anubis had come across them in his studies. On the other hand, he claimed to have lived several thousand years, so what would be the chance...?

The rustling of a piece of crumbling parchment interrupted her thoughts. Anubis had found some papyri and, seemingly without effort, was reading them, lost to the world around him. Such a strange creature, she thought. Was this how people around her saw her? He seemed so absorbed in his reading that she thought it best not to disturb him right now, so she walked down the corridor and peered into the next best room - or what remained of it.
