Realistic Borg Drone

Yep, here’s my take on what a Borg Drone from Star Trek ought to look like! Something tells me that the Real McCoy would look absolutely gruesome, as metal implants that pierce from the outside to the inside only really can be maintained in tissue for a few days at most before they cause major issues.

If they enter a vein like an IV, blood clots can form at the hard edges of the insert. These can break off and flow to the brain, lungs, or cardiac, potentially causing ischemic stroke, pulmonary embolism, or arterial thrombosis of heart attack.

If not in the blood supply, it’s maintainable only by massive, continuous antibiotics, killing all the beneficial microbiota. This is because it’s like a highway into the body, bypassing the skin, the main defense against infection. Without antibiotics, sepsis ensues and the tissue will rot.

So all that at once on a mechanically augmented cadaver basically. Yuck, am I right?
