Flux Schnell
An Afrikaans idiom, especially for @oistar and @siobhantheonly
Literally: such a mouth should get jam
"Bek" is an alternative for the word "mond", referring to the mouth. Context would dictate whether its use is offensive of humorous.
The idiom would be used when someone says something particularly witty or profound. "Well said! misses the mark.
The closest equivalent in English was a tagline for a South African (?) advertising campaign for a brand of Scotch whisky: "Give that man a Bells". This is a particularly poignant version of one of the TV ads: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C7ZWz7my3Ho ↗️

That is brilliant. I love to hear phrases we don’t hear in common parlance. I must look up to see if there is an Irish equivalent.
