She wished she could turn back time.

She wished she could turn back time, to when they were happy together, to when they were in love, to when they were married. She wished she could erase the past few years, the fights, the lies, the divorce. She wished she could have another chance with him, to make things right, to make him stay.

She composed herself. She looked at herself in the mirror and tried to smile. She told herself that she was fine, that she was strong, that she was over him.

She looked at him and their eyes met for a brief moment. She saw a flash of recognition in his eyes, followed by surprise and confusion. He opened his mouth as if to say something but then closed it again.

She kept walking and did not stop or say anything either.

She pretended that he was just a stranger.

She pretended that it did not hurt.

She pretended that she did not care.
