**Shepard Fairey** (Frank Shepard Fairey; 1970 – ) is a muralist and graphic artist from the USA, who first gained attention for creating a sticker with a portrait of the towering professional wrestler André the Giant and the word *Obey*. This led to the establishment of his clothing company, *OBEY*. His style has been described as a "bold iconic style that is based on styling and idealising images", with clear references to propaganda art and Russian Constructivism evident in the bold design, the red, black and white colour scheme, and the use of symbols, text and decoration. His artworks, such as his stickers, posters, and murals, are a mix of satire, subversion, and protest that aim to blur the lines between commercial and traditional art. Fairey's work combines elements of Street Art, Graffiti, Pop Art, Business Art, Appropriation Art and Marxist theory.

**Pacita Abad** (Pacita Barsana Abad; 1946 – 2004) was an Ivatan-Filipino Modern painter, who later lived in the USA. Abad was known for her inventive and experimental approach to painting, with her style continuously evolving throughout her career. Her work ranged from figurative and social or political subjects to naturalist themes inspired by her travels to over 80 countries. Abad developed a unique technique called “trapunto” painting, which involved stuffing and stitching her canvases to create a sculptural quality. She incorporated a variety of materials such as ceramic, glass, mylar, fabric, and circuit boards into her mixed media works. Her art was largely influenced by her personal experiences and the indigenous materials and techniques she encountered during her travels.
