Husk (Paige Guthrie)
Portrayed by Zooey Deschanel
Zooey Deschanel takes on the role of Husk, the often-overlooked Guthrie sibling whose power is as dramatic as it is unsettling. Paige can shed layers of her skin to reveal new forms beneath—hardened steel, blazing flame, stone, or any number of superhuman adaptations. This constant transformation leaves her in a state of flux, both physically and emotionally, always fighting to keep her humanity intact beneath the peeling layers.
Deschanel’s casting reframes Husk from a background player into a scene-stealer. Her natural warmth and down-to-earth relatability balance the eerie body-horror aspect of Husk’s mutation, giving the character the same quiet strength and determination as her brother Cannonball, but with a sharper, more volatile edge.

Zooey Deschanel as Husk in Comic Concept Art Style
Hyperrealistic portrait of Zooey Deschanel as Husk, mid-transformation with golden skin cracking to reveal a superhuman form. Cinematic lighting and a stormy sky.
