This planner was born from our intention to stand beside women and girls who have been hurt because of the way they practise their faith and because they wear a headscarf. We poured into this work the sadness we feel when a woman is judged, excluded or denied access to education or public life because of her head covering. We did not wish to remain silent while someone who finds peace in her faith is hurt by others because of that very faith. We hope that the flowers offered, the love expressed and the promises made on International Women’s Day find their expression in everyday life throughout the year. We believe that truly cherishing women means honouring their dignity, listening to their voices, recognising their contributions, and respecting their freedom to practise their faith. Twelve women accompany these pages through twelve months and four seasons. With each one, we renew our intention to honour the dignity of every human being created by Allah and to approach women with love.
