The Pillars of the Earth IV

I imagined a future metropolis where the cathedrals are many, one after the other, and every single one of them compete with the others for which has the highest spire, the most daring design, the most pointed window -- and so we see them behind the lit one, lost in the fog, immense shadows of spires more and more acuminated, so much that at the end they almost resemble marble needles piercing the clouds.
