I gazed at her picture, the one I had secretly kept in my pocket. Her eyes were like two stars, but they could not tell me what was in her heart. Did she care for me as I did for her? Did she know how much I longed to hold her in my arms? I heard her footsteps approaching and quickly hid the photo inside my jacket. “What are you hiding there?” she asked me with a smile that melted my soul. I hesitated for a moment, then slowly took out the photo and handed it to her. She looked at it curiously, then turned it over and saw that it was her own face. She gasped and looked at me with a mixture of surprise and wonder. There was no use pretending anymore, she knew I loved her.
