On the late afternoon, a woman by the name of Helen Louisssa-Gesslen was driving home on an old road that use to run along Boggy Creek. She spied a "tall ape" wading in the creek close to the car. "It was no bear because bears do not have fingers and walk long that way in water. My husband has shot many bears. That was no bear. And that water is too cold now (October) for anyone to swim in it. I swear by God it was a hairy - 'it' ".
