"Atlantis! Found at last" say archeologists

An international team of archeologists has confirmed the discovery of man-made structures on the Adrar Plateau, Mauritania. Prof Yitzah Hoakes, spokesperson for the team, says preliminary excavations confirm the findings of a survey of the site conducted last year using ground-penetrating radar. "There can be no doubt this is an ancient city. Probably a very important one, based on its size." The Richart structure, also known as the "Eye of the Saharah" has recently been the the focus of speculation that it might be the site of the legendary city of Atlantis.

"It's too early to be absolutely certain about that," said Hoakes, "but we are very excited by the find."
