Assorted humans, mowril, and yilk nodded and rumbled approval. Skorosh continued.

"Even if she has part of another Group to reinforce, only so many can get through the gap at once. And, of course, Tapzin City's own defenses are barely worth considering - we won't be close enough and their fighter pilots are either paid off, or not worth paying off." His nostrils opened involuntarily, taking in the overwhelming mixed-species scent of confidence. That odor hadn't wafted on this bridge for months.

"So brief your crews and stock your holds," he concluded. "Two merchants have already gone down, and Tapzin City is mewling for help. 5th Group is on the way. Let's meet them well."
