Archimedes of Syracuse (c. 287-212 BCE) was a brilliant ancient Greek mathematician, physicist, engineer, and inventor. Archimedes developed various mathematical theorems, including the calculation of the value of π (pi) with remarkable precision.

One of his famous inventions was the Archimedes screw, a device for raising water efficiently. He is renowned for his Eureka moment, where he reportedly jumped out of his bath, realizing the principle of displacement when immersed in water. During the Siege of Syracuse, he devised powerful defensive machines and mirror systems to focus sunlight on Roman ships.
