As for the waves, it was a must to include the signature local style here.  I tried something new that in combination produces an extra ummmph of dynamism to the surf:

Interesting you include Ukiyo-e - I studied the school at uni, it was the most unique presentation I've ever had to deliver. Of course I chose the Courtesan wood block prints to demonstrate the style. They were too beautiful to ignore, but some of the detailed images left the audience gob-smacked - (especially since they were displayed on the big screen in glorious detail in the lecture theatre). It was a very illuminating assignment. 

You certainly captured the ummmph in the surf - its classical yet contemporary at the same time.
