Youth subcultures are awesome! Some of us never grow out of them, be they punk, goth, emo, metaller, etc... It was never *just* about the fashion for many kids, it was about the music, the mood, the feeling of alienation, feeling different from the "normal" kids. 

I don't know if its different for young people now, with so much social-media, "influencers" huge visual cultures, hyper-fast-fashion and throwaway culture but growing up weird used to mean trying to find a tribe that made sense, musically, stylistically and emotionally, even if you were alone in it, the only goth in the village, the only punk on the island... 

Stay weird, stay wonderful, stay beautiful, stay true to yourself and remember, you're not alone.  Don't let the "normals" drag you into boring. Life is too short to wear boring clothes and listen to boring music. 

Trust me, it'll fly by.....
