A while back our characters had to travel to hell, not exactly by choice. They had to fight their BBEG for that story arch there. Lu uttlery exhausted himself in the attempt to distract him and win time for the others to flee. Of course they didn't. And of course he didn't feel like taking enough rest. So the High Priest punished him to copy old scrolls in order to preserve them. Better should have taken his time to rest.
