Kunisada

Utagawa Kunisada (Utagawa Toyokuni III; 1786 – 1865) was a Japanese ukiyo-e artist, widely known for his woodblock prints depicting kabuki actors, beautiful women, and historical scenes. Kunisada's work is associated with the ukiyo-e movement, which flourished in the Edo period and focused on portraying the "floating world" of popular culture. He used traditional woodblock printing techniques, often employing vibrant colours and intricate details to capture the fashion, theatre, and urban life of his time. Kunisada was one of the most commercially successful artists of his era, with his prints gaining immense popularity in Japan.
