I absolutely adore Tasmanian devils and think it heartbreaking how they're dying out from a horrible painful disfiguring CONTAGIOUS cancer that's spread through their biting during mating. Herculean efforts are being made to save by isolating certain uninfected small groups and efforts made to develop a vaccine against it.
They do make blood-curdling (to humans) screams and their mating behaviour sounds kind of brutal but they're not the vicious beasts they've been made out to be. I remember reading what a woman wrote about the tazzies who'd visit her large backyard off her porch. In the evening, there'd often be a few of them on her lawn just chilling out. It brought me to my mind of some of my raccoon visitors.
