Mattie Love adjusted her spectacles, the candlelight flickering across the ancient text. Tonight was for cataloging—a Halloween tradition she’d inherited from her grandmother. Each year, Mattie meticulously documented the library's oldest volumes, cross-referencing forgotten folklore with modern scholarship. The scent of aged paper and beeswax mingled in the air—the perfect atmosphere for uncovering a long-lost tale.
