Except for mining colonies established by Sheliak IV, the second planet in the Sheliak system (Beta Lyrae B, 960 l-y from Earth) is a lifeless world, devoid of even the simplest organic life. Despite this, miners often uncover artifacts, even ruins of buildings and cities, indicating an unknown period in the planet's ancient history. Facilities on Sheliak II are very limited and miners spend their free time working on their ornate wheeled vehicles, racing them, and exploring the wastelands.
