Ba-Deh

In Crow tradition, men have prized their prowess as warriors. In fact, one of the first friends the Crows had were the American military, whom they admired because they themselves were also warriors. Not to say there were any gays in the Crow tribe, to these men we referred to as "Ba-deh". It was a term which meant "not all the way", which meant these men fell short as men, and were referred to as less than men ("not all the way" men).

It was no disparagement, but a way to say they would not be hunters or warriors. They stayed with the women of the camp and carried out the activities of women.

I mention this because when I put in a prompt it gave me the rainbows that are the trademark colors of the LGBTQ community.
