Ettore Sottsass

Ettore Sottsass (1917 – 2007) was an Austrian-Italian architect and designer, best known as the founder of the Memphis Group, a movement that challenged traditional modernist design. His work is characterised by bold, unconventional forms, vibrant colours, and a playful approach to materials. Sottsass worked across various media, including ceramics, furniture, and architecture, often blending industrial design with artistic expression. His contributions to Post-Modern design reflect his interest in creating objects that combine function with aesthetics, pushing the boundaries of contemporary design in the latter half of the 20th century.
