This sort of thing used to happen all the time to the heroes of the adventure stories written by Edgar Rice Burroughs. I was just in the mood to do a space opera creation where things are developing along similar lines between the young couple -- but they are not meant to be preexisting characters, and for some reason I wanted it in the style of Frank Frazetta (if he were doing a watercolor painting to illustrate the story).
