The now undead gnome alchemist Alronc Galvar departed quickly, headed for Dauthon, he said, in his hollow voice, to bring the results of their collaborative efforts to improve upon the Ilyich Exilir to Geis Gaulon in the Dark Academy.

"She will be much pleased, you'll find favor with the dark lady, lass." He said, though his voice lacked its former whimsical charms.

Imnif was pensive, delving back into her experiments and decantings, her apprentice watched silently, working alongside her.

"Do you remember the story Galvar told us, when I met him, about the Aurunumancer?" She asked Galf one day, breaking the long pall of silence.

"I do." He said, his cold blue eyes expressionless.

Imnif was quiet for long moments. "I think, to die in pursuit of one's goals, might be the most worthy death imaginable."

L'nael did not respond, except to gaze into her eyes. Imnif gazed back steadily before departing the laboratory.

Thunder growled outside and lightning flashed.
