BRAINIAC (1)

Vril Dox was a brilliant scientist from the Coluques Islands. At one point, he cloned himself to get a lab assistant; the clone would later be called "Vril Dox II"... He acquired a spaceship and went on a journey through space, gaining knowledge and using his robotic drones to capture living organisms of various alien species.

Along the way, he arrived on the planet Krypton during General Zod's lifetime, and removed the entire city of Kandor, miniaturizing it in his spaceship to preserve and study it. He also created a unit of remote scouts, who were programmed to think they were the original Vril Dox.

On Earth... The Remote Scout Unit arrived as a cloud of nanotech robots, and took control of mentalist Milton Fine, who worked under the pseudonym "Brainiac".
