ЁЯЦ╝ Let's Say Goodbye to 1:1 Thumbnails! ЁЯЦ╝
Dear NightCafe Staff,
WeтАЩre writing to you as a community of loyal, enthusiastic and thoroughly addicted users тАФ the kind of people who generate images at impossible hours, debate models as if they were sports teams, and can now identify Seedream, Flux, GPT, Nano Banana Pro or ZтАСImage from a single pixel.
We come with a small but meaningful request: please free the thumbnails from the 1:1 format.
There was a time when the square made sense. Back in the SDXLтАСonly era, it was tidy, predictable, almost zen.
But today, with your (our) platform offering models capable of every imaginable aspect ratio тАФ cinematic 16:9, tall portraits, panoramic landscapes, ultraтАСwide experiments тАФ the forced square thumbnail feels a bit like the fax machine: respectable, nostalgic, but no longer the best tool for the job.
The issue is simple: square thumbnails cut, hide, and flatten our creations. They show a fragment, not the artwork.
And because of that, many beautiful pieces go unnoticed simply because their preview doesnтАЩt reflect what they truly are.
WeтАЩve reached the point where many of us routinely add little disclaimers under our posts, such as:
тАЬ16:9 format тАФ please click to view full imageтАЭ
тАЬVertical format тАФ open to see it properlyтАЭ
тАЬNot a square, I promise тАФ click!тАЭ
It has become a kind of collective ritual тАФ charming, yes, but also a sign that something isnтАЩt working as well as it could. An artwork shouldnтАЩt need a footnote just to be seen.
So we kindly ask you to consider adding support for thumbnails that match the actual aspect ratio of the image. Nothing revolutionary тАФ just a small improvement that would have a huge impact:
-
better browsing experience
-
more visibility for creators
-
clearer, more engaging galleries
-
fewer hidden masterpieces
-
and no more тАЬplease clickтАЭ disclaimers everywhere
We know how much care and attention you put into NightCafe, and weтАЩre confident this feature would fit naturally into the platformтАЩs evolution.
And of course, weтАЩll be here to test it, use it, love it, and probably overuse it тАФ as we always do.
With appreciation, enthusiasm, and a touch of friendly insistence,
A group of devoted NightCafe users (listed below)
