[Artist Statement THE MOTH

The Why behind my work This is about HOPE and SUPPORT.

This began life as me wondering about what I saw but it turned into something very different when I got GPT Image 2 Low involved. My initial thoughts were as follows: "This afternoon there was a pretty sandy moth on the stairs. I thought how it was in the wrong place but also when it is in the garden, how does it know where it should be? Then I realized, it doesn't! It really is random where it ends up and what happens to it.. It is not possible to write the fate beforehand of every single thing in the cosmos. A lot of it is random events! And I guess when one feels stuck, the trick is to find a way to leave the house or change the garden of one's life and find better luck somewhere else.... maybe."

Because you see, I feel very stuck in my own life, and in my real life situation. I began to make images with parts of my text in GPT Image 2 Low, but then on it's own, it began to relate the moth to someone who is stuck in the wrong place, and then to my surprise, it began to suggest what could be done to change one's situation, not instantly, but through small steps and choices. And it gave me hope.

I was not too happy with my initial images as I felt they were too drab, which I hate. I thought about it and since I love dolls and colour, I decided to get them involved in my story and that gave me my story telling angle. And since I love a happy end, and because the suggestions of the Ai gave me hope for my own personal situation, I tried to put that in the story too. I don't know if it has worked cohesively enough, but we shall see:-) But the AI definitely part wrote this story so I had to mention it. I hope you enjoy my story and perhaps some of the suggestions from the AI will resonate within you and like the moth, help free you from your difficult situation. 4/7/2026.
