The Gardener's Year

This series follows a single cottage garden through the turning of the year, observing how light, color, texture, and life itself transform a familiar place from season to season. What begins as a clean slate in the quiet expectancy of late winter unfolds into spring's awakening, summer's abundance, autumn's harvest, and winter's rest before beginning again.

Viewed together, these images become more than seasonal landscapes. They are a meditation on time, stewardship, and belonging.

The work is rooted in my love of gardening, where patience becomes a way of seeing. Gardens teach us that beauty exists not only in bloom, but also in emergence, ripening, fading, and renewal. Every season contributes to the story.

By returning to the same cottage throughout the year, I explore themes of permanence and change, memory and renewal, and the comfort of belonging to a place that evolves alongside us. The cottage becomes a witness to time, while the surrounding garden reveals nature's enduring cycle of hope, growth, abundance, reflection, and rebirth.

In a world that often moves too quickly, this collection invites viewers to pause, observe, and find wonder in the gentle transformations that occur all around us.

Pick a feeling - (wonder, longing, awe, the quiet kind of joy, it's up to you!) - and build a Body of Work that tells a story about it. Tell one story from start to finish, as a collection of images and/or videos, or as a single edited video. Think short film or mini exhibition, not a single image, clip, or mood board.
