The Names We Carry

I chose to tell this story through the eyes of a soldier because, having served myself, I wanted to explore a kind of loss that often goes unseen.

While these images don't depict my own experiences, they are rooted in a deep respect for the bonds forged through service and the sacrifices that often go unseen.

We often imagine loss as a single moment.

A phone call.

A battlefield.

A folded flag.

But loss is rarely one moment.

It lingers in empty chairs, unfinished conversations, cold cups of coffee, and names traced across polished stone.

This collection follows one soldier from hope to heartbreak—not to tell a story of war, but to tell the story of what comes after it. Each image represents another step in grief: friendship, sacrifice, mourning, remembrance, and the quiet burden carried by those who survive.

This story isn't about a soldier who lost a friend.

It's about a man learning to live with the part of himself that was buried alongside him.

Pick a feeling - (wonder, longing, awe, the quiet kind of joy, it's up to you!) - and build a Body of Work that tells a story about it. Tell one story from start to finish, as a collection of images and/or videos, or as a single edited video. Think short film or mini exhibition, not a single image, clip, or mood board.
