The amulet he's holding is called Luxstone, and is one of many magic conductors used as containers for magic spells that have been confined within the stone for later use. For example, it kinda looks like his sword is being powered up, so perhaps this stone contains some sort of equipment enhancement spell. Luxstone is amongst the weakest magic conductors, where the rare Wyrmstone is one of the strongest.
