What a horrific day this was for the allies. People have become way too desensitized towards the horrors of war that service members might encounter even today, where direct combat is still a given despite so much being done from the air by the push of a button. 

This was the day of days and tested the metal of men.  I could not even IMAGINE what that beach was like..what the entire region of Normandy was like.  

Fantastic and realistic. If you ever come to France you should visit D-Day museums and beaches in Normandy. Iwo Jima was awful too.
