Around here the Sandhill cranes arrive in November and settle in harvested fields. They fly in v formations like geese and go in circles. It maybe a safety move, because at some angles they completely disappear. I appreciated seeing them as when I was little, DDT nearly wiped them out. They have made an amazing comrback.

Without doubt the most artistic animal challenge I have run. Many amazing crane images. A pleasure to view and vote on them all. Congratulations to everyone who entered and returned to vote. I welcome you back for the next animal, IGUANA, which starts now.
